KeepWorthy

Community Guidelines

KeepWorthy works because people are honest about what they tried. These are the rules that keep it that way.

Draft — pending legal review. This document is a working draft and is not yet in force. Set LEGAL_DRAFT to false in src/lib/legal.ts once it has been reviewed.

KeepWorthy is a shelf for real products and real opinions. Everything here follows from that: post things you actually found, say what you actually thought, and treat the people reading it the way you would want to be treated.

These guidelines apply everywhere in the app — products, photos, notes, tags, collections, store entries, usernames, and profiles. They sit alongside our Terms of Service, which is the binding agreement; where the two overlap, the Terms govern.

1. Post real things you actually found

A shelf is only useful if what’s on it is real. Post products you have tried, bought, own, or genuinely came across.

  • Don’t invent products, or list something you’ve never seen to pad out a shelf.
  • Don’t re-post someone else’s find as your own discovery. Saving it to a collection is what that’s for.
  • Don’t post placeholders, test entries, or nonsense to game Explore.

2. Be honest about what you thought

Your rating is the most valuable thing you add. A rating you didn’t mean is worse than no rating at all.

  • Disclose anything you were given. If a product was free, discounted, gifted, or you were paid or otherwise rewarded to post it, say so in your notes.
  • No reviews for hire. Don’t buy, sell, trade, or solicit ratings, likes, saves, or follows, and don’t offer anything in exchange for them.
  • No rating manipulation. Don’t use extra accounts or coordinate with others to inflate your own products or bury someone else’s.
  • Sellers: you’re welcome here as a person with a shelf. You are not welcome to rate your own products, or to have friends, staff, or customers do it for you.

3. Keep product and store details accurate

Store pages are shared. When you attach a store to a product, that entry becomes part of what everyone else sees for that place, so bad information isn’t just your problem.

  • Attach the store you actually got it from, not the one you wish you had, and not one chosen to get more views.
  • Don’t create fake store entries, duplicate entries for a place that already exists, or joke entries.
  • Don’t use product names, notes, or tags to advertise something unrelated to the product.

4. Only post what’s yours to post

  • Your own photos are best. If you use someone else’s image, you must have the right to use it.
  • Don’t post copyrighted material — product photography, catalogues, packaging artwork, or anything else — that you have no permission to use.
  • Don’t post photos of other people without their agreement, particularly children.

Copyright owners can report infringement through the process in our Terms of Service.

5. KeepWorthy isn’t a marketplace

There is no way to buy or sell anything through KeepWorthy, and arranging sales here isn’t allowed. Don’t use products, notes, or your profile to offer goods for sale, run giveaways, solicit payment, or advertise a business. Linking to where something can be bought is the point of the store field; turning your shelf into a storefront is not.

6. Things that can’t go on a shelf

Some products can’t be posted here at all:

  • Illegal drugs and anything sold to help use or conceal them, and prescription medication.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and weapon parts, including instructions for making them.
  • Counterfeits and knock-offs presented as the real thing, and anything stolen.
  • Live animals, and products made from endangered or protected species.
  • Sexually explicit products and any sexual services.
  • Recalled or knowingly unsafe products presented as safe to use.
  • Anything else that is illegal to own or sell where you are.

Alcohol and tobacco products may be posted — a bottle of wine is a legitimate thing to have an opinion about — but not sold or traded, and not aimed at anyone under the legal age where they live.

Supplements, cosmetics, and health products are fine to post. Claiming one cures, treats, or prevents a disease is not. Say what it did for you, not what it does for everyone.

7. Respect the people reading

Criticising a product is the job. Criticising a person is not. We don’t allow:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or repeatedly targeting someone who wants to be left alone.
  • Hate speech or slurs directed at people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious medical condition.
  • Content that praises, promotes, or supports terrorism, organised crime, or hate groups.
  • Threats of violence, or content that glorifies or encourages it.
  • Posting other people’s private information — addresses, phone numbers, financial details, or anything else that could identify or endanger them. Check your photos for receipts, labels, packing slips, and reflections before you upload.

If someone is bothering you, you can block them. Neither of you will see the other anywhere in the app, and they are not told.

8. Keep it appropriate for a mixed audience

People browse Explore without knowing what’s coming next. Keep nudity, sexual content, and gratuitously graphic or violent imagery off the app, including in profile photos and usernames.

9. Content that puts people at risk

Don’t post content that encourages self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating, and don’t promote products or routines as a way to pursue them. Talking about your own experience with recovery is allowed; encouraging someone else toward harm is not.

Don’t post dangerous misuse of products, or challenges and stunts likely to get someone hurt.

If you are struggling, please talk to someone you trust or a local crisis line. If you see content suggesting someone is in immediate danger, report it and contact your local emergency services — we cannot provide emergency help.

10. Be yourself

  • One person, one account.
  • Don’t impersonate another person, a brand, a store, or KeepWorthy itself.
  • Don’t use bots, scripts, or automation to post, follow, like, or save, and don’t scrape or bulk-collect other people’s content.
  • Don’t create a new account to get around a suspension or a block.

A themed or topic-based shelf is fine. Pretending to be someone you aren’t is not.

11. No spam

Don’t post repetitively, flood Explore, follow and unfollow people to farm attention, or post links to malware, phishing pages, or scams.

12. Age

You must be at least 13 to use KeepWorthy, or 16 in the European Economic Area unless local law sets a lower age. Accounts we believe belong to someone underage are removed.

13. What happens if you break these rules

Anyone can report a product or a profile from inside the app. Once a product has been reported three times it comes out of everyone’s feed while we look at it.

Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may:

  • remove the product, photo, collection, or profile detail;
  • keep content out of Explore, search, and store pages;
  • warn you, or restrict features on your account;
  • suspend the account; or
  • terminate it permanently.

Serious breaches — sexual content involving minors, credible threats, exploitation — mean immediate removal without a warning, and we report them to the authorities where the law requires it. Repeated copyright infringement also ends an account, as described in the Terms.

Context matters, and we would rather correct something than remove someone. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you what happened and why.

14. Reporting something

Use the report option in the app, or email support@getkeepworthy.com with a link and a short description of the problem. Please don’t file reports on things you simply disagree with — a two-star rating you don’t share is not a violation. Deliberately abusing the report system is itself a breach of these guidelines.

15. If we get it wrong

We will make mistakes. If your content was removed or your account was restricted and you think that was wrong, reply to the message we sent you, or email support@getkeepworthy.com with what was removed and why you think it should stand. A person will look at it again.

16. Changes

As KeepWorthy grows we will run into things these guidelines don’t cover, and we will update them when we do. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. The date at the top shows when this was last revised.
